# Supporting Members

## Supporting Member

Supporting members are part of our secret chat group on Slack, get access to our calendar of members-only events, and get a profile on the [members section](http://virtualcinema.aalto.fi/members) on our website. They also get to join our annual General Assembly.

### **How to join**

* Sign-up by filling the [membership application form](https://goo.gl/forms/5IJsO6z2JL2V44yR2) (congrats, you found the hidden link).
* We use Slack for all our internal communication! Please make sure that you install the Slack app on your phone & make sure that you have push notifications enabled. If you haven’t used Slack before - make sure to check out [this video here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJmdHowChWk) OR this [short written introduction](https://medium.com/@smikatoots/how-to-use-slack-for-newbies-fe1acfb29048). And contact @synes or @tatu if you run into any problems with Slack.
* Change your profile picture & add your contact details in your personal settings on Slack.

### **How to leave**

* Send an informal request to [Anchor Group](/handbook/internal-groups-and-featured-projects/anchor-group.md) on Slack that you want to leave. We will remove you from Slack, Google Drive & the website.

### **What’s required (have to)**

* Come to public VCL events and get in touch with our other members.
* Also check out [running projects](/handbook/community-projects/community-projects.md) and contact the coordinators of projects you’re interested in.
* Answer messages from other members, especially from active and hyperactive members.
* Once you're accepted, fill the [member survey](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfPXuwlH9oQV9ahqekWJBLcCi9zOhShntcOb4aaouAUR1vtPQ/viewform) so we can add your profile to our website.

### **What’s encouraged (would be nice)**

* Share personal achievements (exhibitions, your articles, project updates) related to VCL’s mission in the #publish\_this channel on Slack.
* Promote VCL at conferences, and invite interesting people to join us :)
* Share your knowledge, event invitations, interesting links and articles etc. in #random channel in Slack.
* Mention VCL and our website [virtualcinema.aalto.fi](http://virtualcinema.aalto.fi) in your social media accounts' bio.
